Guided Tours or independent travel?Organized and guided tours are an excellent option for you who have avoided travelling aboard for various excuses like: how would I communicate if I don’t speak the local language or how would I know where to go or where to stay? Whether taking a domestic vacation or upon making your decision on a trip abroad there, are two main options, either making your own trip plans and schedule or taking an organized guided tour, planned and scheduled by one of these tour operators. If you make your decision in favor of the latter, there is again the option to choose, either contact your home town organizer who will take care of your entire trip or travel independently to your destination and hire a local tour operator's services there. There are also various lengths and standard levels you can choose from. Guided tours are made for one who wishes to travel but lacks the capability for self planning or people who are looking for company, people who do not speak languages or those that don’t like travelling by their own. What are the advantages of such tours? 1. Having a planned a head schedule - no need to look for places to go, places to stay and on top of all being accompanied by a professional guides. 2. Being accompanied by a professional knowledgeable guide - guides know destinations inside out and can tell you all about the history of the place, the culture of the locals, pay your attention for the special architecture and architectural structures and enrich you by information. 3. Social experience - Joining a group may make the trip more enjoyable and also give you the ability for sharing experience while travel. 4. Logistics: - Transportation - No need to run around and look for a ride as it is a part of the services provided by the organizer. - Accommodation - Organizer will make accommodation arrangements and will save you from the tedious preoccupation of coordination and making arrangements for accommodation 5. Effectiveness - efficient time utilization by fitting in several locations in a short period of time and visiting to most popular sites. 6. Comfort - no need to take care for administration and timetable. Someone else is already taking care and doing it for you in order to let you enjoy your vacation. What are the disadvantages of organized tours abroad? 1. More expensive - organized tours are usually more expensive than independent travel. 2. Crowded agenda - organized tours are designed in a manner that you can visit as many places within a short time sometimes might be too hectic. 3. Cancellations fee - if there are not enough participants registered; there may be cancellations of tours which cause a great disappointment. On the other hand if you’d like to cancel your participation there might be cancellation fee that you’ll have to pay. 4. Dependency - being dependent on your tour guide, the other participants’ behavior and subject to given agenda don’t give you the flexibility and freedom that you would expect. So now the
decision is yours wether to go independently or join a guided tour.
