Is Anti Aging a buzzword ?

Anti aging became a large industry and has been blossoming in the last few decades. People, mostly after 50, become more aware to their look, fit and wellness by changing their lifestyle. Anti aging deals with attempts to maximize the average life expectancy by delaying the aging process or preventing aging signs.

Theoretically, human life span can be increased by reducing damage caused by the aging process by periodically replacing damaged tissue, or by repair or resuscitation of old cells and tissues.

Most of us aging people have a dream to feel and look young and healthy as we progress in age. Most visible aging signs that we want to get rid of are these that are reflected in the mirror, each and every day when we wake up. These wrinkles ! they bother us don't they? If we could only eliminate them.

Anti-aging medicine is not a promise for eternal life and can't provide us with the potion of youth yet, but can help us control the delay our aging process and preventing aging infirmity in a way.

Anti Aging lifestyle includes do's and don't's including nutrition and activities rules and also medical treatments such as surgery treatments and paramedical care by using nutrition supplements and the like.

Change of habits and adoption of new customs are now quite fashionable:

-    Weight control and proper nutrition

-    Doing sports 30 – 60 minutes a day walk is mostly recommended.

-    Avoiding UV rays as it will damages our skin.

-    Not smoking

-    Avoiding stress situations

And for the stringent disciples:

-  Make sure you eat fruits and vegetables and drink much water

-  Use of nutritional supplements such as vitamins, minerals and
enzymes.  These are serving as antioxidants to assist on your anti
   aging struggle.

-  Use of custom series of anti-aging care products containing only
natural  ingredients, treating face and body skin wrinkled and reduce
pigmentation spots caused by environmental effects.

Critics warn that hormone therapy, such as the injection of growth hormone, testosterone, estrogen, thyroid hormone and melatonin involve risk ... and that there is also no medical evidence of efficacy of such treatments.

As for antioxidants treatments, the conclusion is not yet unequivocal. Cell theory of cumulative damage due to free radical action is quite accepted by many popular scientific communities.

Eating fruits and vegetables containing antioxidants may reduce age dependent morbidity, such as cancer or atherosclerosis, but scientific studies have not yet prove effective in reduction in mortality. There is also no clear proof that taking vitamins, minerals and other herbal supplements reduces age dependent morbidity.

Also limitation of calories by radical diet as a mean of life lengthening has not yet prove as effective, but on the other hand, doing regular exercise; balanced rich in fruits and vegetables diet, bran and calcium, low saturated fat, trans fat and cholesterol; vaccines against flu, pneumonia and tetanus; avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol and exposure to sun; and periodic observance on monitoring blood pressure and cholesterol tests to detect breast cancer and colon can help you preserve your vitality.

As we have the passion for life and would like to go on enjoying as long as we can, we will not give up that easily and choose our own way.
